Im with Healthy Pets. One adult girl and two 6 month old boys - think the girl is circa £6pm, and the boys £5pm each. Thats their basic 'bronze' cover up to £1000 IIRC.
Girl would be circa £4 after a couple of years, but we made a claim on her policy - was very impressed, no quibble and paid promptly. Also will pay vet direct if your vet allows it.
Have been quite impressed with them.

Enzo and Portia self-insure - they put £15 per month into a savings fund every month in case they're ill in future. Given how much the monthly fees ramp up as they get older and given how high the excesses are, we agreed that made sense. They are thinking about moving into Premium Bonds though.
Edited for typo.

We've just started doing this for our dogs, it get's expensive as they get older and this way, if you don't claim you keep the money!Edited for typo.
Top Idea This!
I don't know to be honest - these are our first two cats.
But we dropped them in for half 8 one morning and picked them both up (one M one F) about 16:00.
Big white cone collar for her and nothing for him. They were a bit sleepy but by late evning they were running around as if almost nothing had happened.

I've had a chat with my cat explained the basic economic issue of replacement vs repair. I've also told her the cost of a replacement cat. I think we understand each other!!

the water-butt is her insurance policy, she'll be fit as a fiddle
