Which ones do yours really love? Mine are not interested in balls, and squeaky toys just get killed in minutes until they no longer squeak! I'd like to get them something they really love, are kongs really as good as they say?

Thanks in advance!

Well, what kind of dogs do you have? Do they play together or with people?

My collie cross is obsessed with balls, but my friends Westie couldn't care less. Do they like tug? Kongs are good quality, but that doesn't mean your dog will enjoy it unless they are motivated by food.

Yes they are both very food orientated!
I've got two rescues, an English mastiff called Tia who I've had 3 months - she was very nervous but is getting better, so a 'gentle' game for her is needed. The other is Brook a holy terror of a shar pei x staff who leaves chaos in his wake - he needs something tough as he has a hell of a bite on him.
I might take them to pets at home tomorrow and let them 'choose' their own, I was just interested in what others peoples dogs go for.
Edit to say - they play together pretty much non stop, to the point it becomes a pain which is why I would like them to have some toys so we can get involved too!

They sell Kong toys, and the Tuffy's range are apparently very popular too!

All Bosley wants is big soft furry balls, so to speak, which he then suckles obsessively.

Anything else bought for him is chewed to bits very quickly, but the soft balls are treated very respectfully. I get them here:

Love it!

Boris seems to suckle his soft toys too!

KONG Toys are fab!!! And they actually keep the pooches entertained as they can spend HOURS trying to get the tasty filling out of the KONG! My old dog Ellie, her favourite was peanut butter and grated cheese! lol

Tug ropes are good too! Boris and Beau often entertain each other, with one on either end of the rope!

Ah Bosley is very sweet!! I gave Brook a teddy once, he bit its face off, then systematically removed its limbs before ripping his remaining innards out. I think he has issues.

Thanks for the recommendation Moo! They do like playing tug of war with socks so perhaps a ropey toy would work!

Family record was a very tough male bulldog who was given a child's plastic football, rolled it against a cupboard and headbutted it until it burst - in an estimated seven seconds.

For one, sticks are the favorite, as long as another dog wants it. She won't chase anything like a ball though. Kongs are also good. Will also play tug of war but I don't like that due to teeth (and in my case shoulder!) issues.

One won't play with anything but dogs. Not even Kongs.

One will play with anything going, but only for about 30 seconds, then it's time to sleep.

Our garden is often littered with discarded toys.

Jackass the Springer loves:

stuffed pheasants

all kinds of balls but especially tennis balls

ropes

fighting with a huge towl which I throw in the air

rolled up smelly socks!

Kongs, although he's an expert at extracting the stuffing by throwing the Kong at the floor so they rarely last long

Well I bought them a kong each - Tia is scared of hers. A crazy mini space hopper squeaky thing - Tia is scared of it. A tug of war rope thing - Tia is scared of it. A stuffed duck - Tia is scared of it.
Sensing a theme anyone?!

rubber ring, similar to a quoit, that you can play tug and fetch with.
tennis ball thrown using a launcher.

Our ginger chap is a bit OCD with toys - he carrys one in his mouth, most of the time...

At the moment, this one is his favourite - it can be thrown like a ball, but offers good tactile "chewing" opportunities because of the give in the rubber ring things.

And another, gratuitous shot:

Right now Riley and Tony are playing tug at the other end of the sofa.

Dogs Trust do a great rope, Riley is on the third but they last so so well, we tend to bin them when they get too minging rather than them breaking.

Tennis balls are a favourite, but it has to be real ones, the dog toy ones smell funny and get torn apart. She loves her blanket, which functions as blanket, den, tug toy, porta-bed and clothing (we tie it round her and laugh at her face as she tries to get it off)

Cuddly toys just get torn apart, except for the raccoon which she loves, but doesn't squeak anymore. Squeaky toys are actually banned, for our sanity. Surprise hit was a pair of those tumble drier balls, they are knobbly she good for her teeth. Rawhides and foody things always go down well too.
