Its approaching the tick season, does anyone know of anything I can buy to stop the little buggers? I have a dog and two cats, it would be great to know of a spray that stops them.

Cheers

I use Effipro on my Spaniel with good results. I used to use Frontline but apparently Effipro is similar but cheaper.

Same as us.

And of course if they do get a tick, there is a little gadget you can get to remove them.

Thankyou, I shall give that a try. I am all to familiar with that little gadget. I really hate having to remove them, they make my skin crawl!

Yes, I catch them on kitchen roll and throw them out into the garden.....

Oh, also, I just thought, we now add garlic to the food which is supposed to help, don't know if it does yet..

How bizzare! I always thought a teeny bit of Garlic was good for dogs!

We have always used Frontline but now the vet is suggesting that it's not as effective as it used to be? ie the ticks may have developed a resistance.

Is there a newer formula that is better?

My dad used to burn them with a cigarette until they dropped off.

How odd, this was on advice from a few sources including people who win lots and lots and lots of shows etc..

I would say 8 dogs is a small amount though, but I'll check with my vet!

ETA - stuff like this is what we get http://www.pet-needs.com/index.asp?aid=24464
