Badgers / Floodlights - Puzzled

We have just had an elaborate lighting system installed and last night it triggered in the back garden, we looked out the window to see two badgers eating and digging on the lawn in 1500 watts of floodlight.

WHY didnt they run away when the lights came on ? its amost as if they couldnt see the light but surely they can - we are puzzled

Badgers have crap eyesight and can't really differentiate between light levels, I don't think they have a pupil as such like we do, they rely far more on excellent hearing and smell. We have a sett at the bottom of our garden and we can set up a 110v site light to watch them and they don't seem to care less, we can lay on the grass and drop them all sorts of goodies so long as we are virtually silent.
