Had Crufts on in the background a few minutes ago, they were talking abour puppy farming and some of the newer cross breeds, the one that made me snigger was the bulldog stzu cross. Clare Balding was a bit sniffy about it saying they had only bred it for the name lol
I don't get it What's so funny about a dogzu?
Your on about that 'how to buy a puppy' programme?
I though it was interesting, that bloke who bred the first labradoodle, who then had a bloke phone him up to say he'd done the first Roodoodle - a rottveiler and poodle, mental.
In the Husky community, you see alot of cross breeds such as a Husky/GSD cross advertised as all the husky loveableness and looks with a GSD guarding character - which as you may be aware Huskys don't do guarding. They'd be quite happy to let a burglar have the family jewels in return for a treatie.
Our past Rescue Husky Maverick came from a notorious puppy farm, and Ive read/been told about conditions etc, locked away in cage too small for them 24hours a day but that video shocked me in the depravity of it.
What I found interesting though was the dalmation gene, or rather lack of, that means dallys are more suseptable to kidney problems. A geneticist in the USA have cross breed a pointer with a dally to reintroduce the gene to stop further problems.

Yes I thought that was a great idea for the Dalmation, howevfer apparently breeders are up in arms about it saying it is not 100% pure dalmation so should not be classed as one. I really hope they change their tune on that one!
Puppy farming is the worst of the worst but the above attitude stinks aswell.

I lost my Dalmation when growing up due to Kidney disease.
I'd love to listen to the breeders excuses for not doing anything about it.
Really is inexcusable that they are not concerned with the genetic health of the animals.
Strict breeding guidelines for pedigree dogs have resulted in animals that are unhealthy inbred mutants
with low life expectancy and bad health.
These animals would not exist in nature.
we made them through selective breeding
To shun responsibly is inexcusable and irresponsible.
