Anybody else's Dog come into the room when Dinner is going into the bowl but just as its getting put down goes out for a minute or two & then heads back in to eat it? Our Ridgeback Zoe does without fail no matter how hungry she is.

Uh no. Ours are made to sit and wait for a few seconds before they are allowed to eat, so they all are hanging around, and as a rule the food doesn't......

Maybe she goes to get her cutlery and napkin?

Seriously though, not a chance. Very odd.

Ours is made to sit and wait as well. Then it's hoover time, it's like she inhales the stuff.

Sometimes she will take a break - she walks into the lounge, burps and then goes back for more

The older of our two dogs does this - we always though it was part of his unique OCD. laugh

The more excited and hungry he is, the more likely he is to do it. When I go into teh utility to get his dinner I call him in and get him to sit, which he does, but as I start to dish the stuff out, he fks off and then comes back. He never leaves it down for long, or his oppo will nick it.

She just calmly walks out & calmly walks back in but is an only dog !

I remember when she was a puppy & her first meal with us, my god I have never seen anything being eaten so quick !!

Then she's learnt that she can take her time with her food and no-one will nick it, whereas when she was a puppy she had to get it down her neck quickly or else the rest of the litter will take it.

And I guess she's not greedy...

Something similar...

When we had Bex, she was very good at feed times and would wait patiently for her feed.
Her two daughters on the otherhand would often compete and be a royal pain, vocalising and running around the kitchen!

After reading the riot act, the over sensitive Bex retired to her basket. To try and prove the point good behaviour reaps its rewards, Bex had her food delivered to her by her basket and the other two made to wait.

When Bex died, the very next day only one dog was making a fuss at feed times. The other dog was patiently sitting in the basket waiting to be fed.

This is still the daily routine!

Yes!

He'll follow me into the kitchen, watch while I get all the stuff, then as soon as I pick up the fork, he'll naff off and go and stand in the lounge doorway, only to re-appear in the kitchen seconds later at the sound of the biscuits being mixed in.

Odd!
