Now ive heard fantastic things about this food, and i finally took the plunge and bought some yesterday for Boris and Beau.... but my god its expensive!

The lady in the pet shop couldnt praise it enough and she pretty much ripped the brand i was buying to shreds! (BETA) And i was told this was a good food, and beta being quite expensive i wrongly assumed because of the cost it was good too!

Does any one here use Royal Canin? If so, know of anywhere cheaper to buy it? lol

I switched Moss (british bulldog) to a cheaper dog food for a few weeks. In that period his skin started to get blistered and he was constantly scratching at himself, (he has atopic dermotitis).
He's been back on the Royal Canin for the past two months and he is much healthier. He looks really good and smells much better.
It is expensive but worth it: it costs ~55 euro per 15kg bag over here in Ireland.
(p.s. I have your two bullies as my screensaver, the photo where the Beau is asleep with her tounge out, hope you don't mind)

Awwww course i dont mind! I love that pic too!!!

Its nice to hear from another bully owner who has his dog on Royal Canin. Beau bless her heart never had the best start in life so i really do want to make sure that whatever life she does have with me is the best she can get ya know??

Its £51 here for a 15kg bag, so not a great deal of difference to you!

Boris' breeder popped in to see him yesterday just to say hi and to see how he was getting on, and she said she was proper chuffed with how he was developing. Then she nearly cried when she saw Beaus legs and spine, but she did say, if i keep doing what im doing with her diet, and her exercise, she 'should' gradually improve!

The difference in her in just 3 weeks really is amazing, he coat is so much shinier, her spine definitely doesnt stick out as much, although it is still quite badly curved, but i dont think that will ever go!

Her eyes are still gunky in the morning, its almost as if her eyelids are too fat?! but i wouldnt be without em both i really wouldnt!

Have always used CSJ range of foods- all of them seem to suit our dog (a very active, but very sensitive bearded collie), but especially this one:

Most of the other dogs doing agility use CSJ, and his brothers and sisters (most of whom are working dogs), all run on CSJ too.

Had massive problems with other foods that used to cause skin problems and very odd intestinal problems.

it's all in the ingredients and analysis, pretty much like food for humans biggrin

never used Royal Canin but have used JWB and food from the Natural Dog Food Company with good results, currently on JWB. Also heard good things about Orijen, which is hands down the food with the most % of proteins in it. Anything with something along the lines of 25% ish proteins, very little carbs that aren't brown rice is good (at least for my GSD anyway)

I've fed 2 cats + 2 dogs on Royal Canin and I think it's fab - it was recommended by both my dogs breeders when we had them so just kept feeding it as they are so happy.

It's very expensive but varies a lot depending on which supplier you go to - it on special offer at Pets At Home at the moment, just stocked right up today!

Thanks for your help peeps.

My Dogue never got on with JWB, so ive always steered away from it since then, but i guess each dog is different!

Think im gonna have to do some internet trawling when i get home tonight!

I use Arden grange as I can get vat free breeder bags, but costco's own kirkland brand is supposed to be excellent quality and equivalent to any leading brand JWB et al and half the cost.

I absolutely love those pics!!! We're thinking of getting one as a friend for Puggy-boy.
Anyway, the Canin food is what he is on. It's specifically designed to give them everything they need, so the vet tells me. This is all he eats.

I give RC sensitive to my Burmese as he had an dodgy belly. I've just ordered some from Pet Drugs Online via Amazon and they are much cheaper than anywhere else, £32 including delivery for the 48x100g pouches. That's £8 less than I have been paying!

try "natural dog food company" 100% natural no nasty additives, would not feed working dog to your bulldogs as far too high in calories and they will end up like sumo wrestlers.look on the ingrediants list and see what you are feeding- google "daily mail dog food"it will bring up- is pet food killing our pets? and see what goes into some foods- remains of euthanised cats and dogs, microchips etc

I don't think dog and cat food is killing our cats - more like the owners "love", cars, and kids with airguns more like.

Still, I wouldn't expect anything else from the Daily Wail. biggrin

Our breeder has brought his labs up sucessfully on Beta so i've stuck with this. It's 2 15kg sacks for £40 now and again in Pets at Home so I usually stock up to get us by until the next offer.

Any more and he'll be eating better than me!

Have fed my Dogue de Bordeaux on Royal Canin for 5 yrs but when it went over 50 quid a bag I said enough is enough and bought my local outlet's hypo allergenic range at half the price, it appears every bit as good. The only reason I stuck with it so long was that they were one of the only suppliers of large bite food which saves giant breeds from bloat etc due to bolting their food, think I was just unnecessarily paranoid.
Great food but too expensive, was going through 100 quid every 6 weeks!
