I've got a 10 month old Westie, Jess, who has a bad habit of jumping up at the TV every time she sees a dog on it!

We're not sure what the best way is to try and stop her from doing this. Any suggestions?

You're lucky!

We had a rabbit who was a huge Elton John fan, every time he came on the telly she'd rush up and watch him, and toddle off when he'd finished!

One of my old dogs used to go all gooey if there were puppies (canine kind!) on the telly, or if there was an animal crying out.

I'd say you're just going to have to get used to it.

Mine does this.

It can be a bit annoying if we're trying to watch a programme, however it's always funny when the dog on the telly moves out of shot and my dog can't work out where it's gone smile.

I had thought about trying to stop this behaviour, however I'd be worried that by stopping him barking at stuff on the telly, he'd also stop barking at things external to the house and it's quite comforting/reassuring to know that he's alerting me to stuff going on outside in his unofficial role as a guard dog..

my cats the worst of the two for this - esp if there are bird noises, she paws up towards the screen. the dog mostly presumes when they go off the screen they have gone into the garden so goes out to look rather than jump at the TV.
maybe get your dog to get a toy when he wants to go for the tv...
