Need URGENT kitty help
Discussion
Hi all, first time in this corner of the forum.
I have found a little kitten on my street on the way home and it sounds very lost. It has been mewing in a distressed way, but upon closer inspection it looks like it has a disease which has affected its eyes with a greenish sort of mucus around them and it reacts like it is partially sighted. I do not have a cat at the moment but have had them before since being a very small child having grown up in a catty household ( I am away at university now) and it really kills me to see and animal looking like this. Any advice on a course of action from some one more knowledgeable than me would be much appreciated. I am also unable to take this animal in for any real period as it would breach my contract with my landlord which also makes this a moral dialemma for me.

P.S. there are several other cats on the street which have been showing it attention and I am worried about these and if this could be infectious.

Ask at the local houses if their missing a cat first, then take it to the local Vet, explain where and how you found it, if its chipped the owner will be contacted, if not it'll get rehomed, either way its eye's will get looked at.
If its eyesight is that bad it'll be run over in short order unless something done.

Its good of you to take it in, as mentioned it could have been squished.
I'd just take it to the vets and they will scan it and pass it on to the RSPCA or suchlike. The vets often have accounts with the RSPCA and can give treatment to the cat. If its owned, anyone should realise to contact the RSPCA if they have lost a pet, as well as the council pound etc.
It could have flu or just conjuncivitis, but couldn't be left, so good dead well done.
hope its chipped ....

sounds very much like cat flu, take it in tonight and bathe its eyes, feed it and give it some place warm to sleep, oh dont forget the litter tray!!!
tom take it to vet and get its eyes sorted etc, check to see if its chipped, dont bother with the rspca they are a waste of space.
Not exactly a "waste of space", but not what most animal lovers would call caring, you can probably do better if you know what you're doing.tom take it to vet and get its eyes sorted etc, check to see if its chipped, dont bother with the rspca they are a waste of space.
Local animal shelters are probably better, I know the ones around me are great.
