Next door's cat has started coming into our house through the cat flap. Our Golden Retriever ignores it as he rather likes our cat and assumes this one must be nice too.

We'd like to keep it out but our cat regularly manages to get rid of her collar which counts out those that use a magnetic key. So I've been thinking of one that is linked to our cat's implanted microchip.

I've seen Pet Porte and Sureflap models.

Does anyone have experiences (good/bad) which they can share?

Any other recommendations?

I heartily recommend Sureflap, provided your cat is not a whopper. It's simple, and it works. Also the company is excellent to deal with.

Another vote for Sureflap here too. As said so long as your cat is 'normal' size, our bengal is 6.5kg and its a bit of a squeeze but better than all the local strays coming in! Had a slight issue with a huge draught round the door but three days after the e-mail went to them, a new door with excluder round it arrived free of charge, not sure if its a permanent mod yet but think it will be soon. They have also mod'ed the new ones to have a bigger, more robust lock to stop mega cats forcing their way in, which a few people had trouble with.

When I was originally comparing the two, there was two main thing that put me off the petporte, the huge scanner porch that stuck out and the fact it was AC powered so I would to have run a cable right round the room, a set of AA batteries every 12 months is a much better idea.
