what pet insurance? (Dog)
Discussion
It may actually be worth asking the vet you've joined who they prefer dealing with, some insurance companies can be very difficult when it comes to claims. Now vets are not allowed to recommend an insurance company but they will be able to hint at who they have good dealings with etc.
Pet plan is gold standard, you should compare all insurances to them. Cheap usually means poor long term return esp if pet ends up with a long term condition.
I'm with Sainsburys, not a cover for life but they offer £7.5k per medical condition and no extra excess unless a gap of more than 18 months.
Just remember £4k for one condition is not a lot these days. Pet plan minimum is £4k (they do higher covers) per condition per yr. You pay one excess a year ans at the start of each policy year it goes back upto £4k however this isn't so good if your pet needs major surgery in one yr (my cat had an rta which cost £4.5k, this means pet plan would've only paid £4k) However it does mean that for the rest of her life if she has any issues relating to her rta I only have £3k left +another excess as it was more than 18 months ago (though I'm not complaining, they never faultered in their payments for her)
If Tesco looks right for you then I'd say better some insurance than none but look at there maximum cover, length of time they'll cover a condition etc. They have improved a lot over the years with what they offer.

I always find this a total nightmare
Excess?
Maximum amount paid?
Per year or per treatment?
Covered for life or excluded?
I have Pet Plan covered for life. There are various levels of cover with this too.
If you wanted some free insurance for four weeks while you have a look around, we have an agreement with Pet Plan where they will give four weeks free insurance to dogs using our code.
The contact details are:
0800 197 9017 or www.petplan.co.uk/4cv
The code to activate the free insurance is: 1300041016
Cover for the 4 weeks is:
Vet Fees - up to £2,000
Advertising & Reward - up to £250
Boarding Fees - up to £250
If you go on to renew the insurance Four Paws will get paid a percentage fee. We also get entered into a monthly draw to win £500.
It has to be said though that we are unable to recommend any one insurance company over any other, so you will need to ensure this policy is the right one for you.
Thank you

You already recommended one product (Petplan) over all others. That's a big no-no with the financial services act It has to be said though that we are unable to recommend any one insurance company over any other, so you will need to ensure this policy is the right one for you.
Anyway regardless, Marks and Spencers insurance gives better value for money than Petplan on like for like cover

I have recommended nothing. I have merely given facts, much like you have by saying M&S gives the same cover but for less money.Anyway regardless, Marks and Spencers insurance gives better value for money than Petplan on like for like cover

Been covered before on here but as before;
We were with petplan for 18years with our old dog and never had any issues at all with payouts, this time we got the same cover with argos pet insurance for half the price of petplan and according to the reviews I have read, nothing to worry about when it comes to paying out.
