It is suggesting fresh pureed food rather than baby food and as I thought he should be getting live crickets a couple of times a week, do you add supplements to the diet?

crested ones dont digest live food and all the books say to stay away from them. she always has a fresh supply of water and calci dust to play in. the pureed fresh food is what i prefered but she maybe only eats that once a week even tho a fresh supply is added daily where as the baby food gets eaten about every 4 days
Are you sure?

I checked a couple of sites first to be sure but this one above also suggests live food for the crested gecko. I checked because I knew leopard geckos (+waxworms/ mealworms etc) did but wasn't sure about the crested.

Have a look at http://www.pangeareptile.com/forums/index.php
and http://www.forums.repashy.com/
The general opinion seems to be to feed them a complete crested gecko diet which you mix up with water. I got mine from a uk website and they do quite a few flavours. Also live crickets dusted with calcium etc as an occasional treat.
Some cresties seem to take to the complete food better than others but its worth trying a few things to see what they like. Mine prefers the banana flavour!

cheers james7 i'm looking into that now. my knowledge of crested geckos is limited to what i've found on line or in the book we got off amazon, my wife got me her for my office as she wasnt up for bearded dragons. however, was at the vet with the dog today and she called a reptile specialist who said if she's never had live food prob best to keep her away from it, she may not know to eat it. i found this funny, i thought natural instinct would have kicked in??? looking now, she is lying in the calci dust i have in a dish. just wasnt sure if i should expect her to eat everyday or if she will only eat when she is hungry
I have found that when they are small it's actually quite hard to see if they have eaten anything. But as they grow you can see they eat more and more.
I only give mine the crested gecko diet made by repashy with an occasional bit of fruit and he seems fine with that. I have tried an occasional earth worm but not had much luck with that so I am not convinced he is much of a hunter!
