Okkkkkk then! Boris is only 11 weeks old, and tonight he seems to of developed a fascination with my leg.... And my slipper! Lol

I didn't think humping came in to play til they were much older?!

Kosta... yes.... lets not even get onto the subject of hotdogs! lol

Boris just would not settle last night, every time i sat on the sofa he would cry his eyes out until i sat on the floor with him again, and i just thought he was being playful... no... it seems he was being amorous! he would get real close as if to give me a sloppy kiss, then id look down and he'd be humping my knee/leg/foot/arm!

I've known several pups do the same when you'd think they'd be too young.

Just be a little careful, if he humps excessively or for too long he does risk a problem called paraphimosis, this is basically when the penis becomes too engorged and then it can't retract properly. (google for more info). This can lead to discomfort for the dog and usually vet intervention.

I'm not saying it will happen but you would be better off distracting Boris from his amorous intentions to lessen the chances!

Bex thank you for your reply!

Ill definitely have a read up of that so i can keep an eye out.

So, as daft as it sounds, is it ok for me to just 'stop' him, and distract him whenever he does it?!

Ive never had a dog that humps!

Yes. In fact I think it is recommended to try and distract. Though rather than stop him first just try and show him something else he likes.

Lots of dogs hump and for many reasons other than sexual.

Be better to give him something else he can do smile If you just stop a dog from doing something it leaves a void that needs to be filled with something else smile

My little one humped from day 1 (at 7 and a half weeks). If he tried to hump me, he got ignored for a couple of minutes. If he humped a toy, I distracted him to do something else.

He's 17 weeks now and no humping at all for 5 of them. Fingers crossed.

I presume this was a learnt behaviour from another dog as he would have had no idea what he was actually doing.

Play with him.
