I was having this discussion with my missus today as we are having guests over and I always like to have a good hoover and tidy up (as you do).

It dawned on me how mucky and hairy the place gets in such a short space of time. Im a bit of a stickler for being clean and tidy so find myself hoovering somewhere most days.

Friends with dogs are often a bit more relaxed and do much less and dont care!

No right or wrong, just wondering really!

Well,if we didn't have a cleaner, we'd be knee deep in hair, fluff and toys by now. Not becuase I like living like that, but I'm very lazy.
The place is pretty tidy, but the 6 month old leather sofa is now ruined.

Same here but with 2 cats, we are lucky as have mainly laminate flooring, but the 2 rooms that are carpeted are hair suckers, we have that hoover up there ^ it's great biggrin
Only problem is we have to hoover those room every other day, used to be a week before we got the 2nd cat frown
Definitely replacing the carpets with flooring next time we can afford it!

I worry about the smells more than the mess
We seem to be in the middle of a lot of people we know, we see some spotless houses, and some very casual not so spotless houses, I wish I could be happy with a not so spotless house, but I am not.
I also wish I had the motivation to have a spotless house, but I don't.
So middle road

We've got two dogs, one black one sandy coloured so no matter what colour stuff is (sofa, carpet, jumper, sheets) they show the hair. And there's alot of hair. Generally I like to live in filth and chaos so it doesn't bother me too much although the o/h is a bit more house proud like his Mum. I have asked my friends to let me know if I start to smell of dog...

I hoover at least once a day.............Mop the floor every week or so (the hallway is tile), but after a walk we hose the dog's feet down and towel them clean..

when we had two border collies that shed hair by looking at them it was a vacuum every day. You never drove the car with the windows open or the fur started swirling.. Now we have a dog that hardly moults, it was part of the decision for choosing that breed.

Permanently seem to be knee deep in hair and mud - floors and walls. Can't be helped really with one permanent dog and a couple of fosters on the go. Often the fosters are not housetrained and then we have the vomit as well. Nice!

Wooden floors and leather sofas help. Only recently got curtains. Had blinds previously.

Dyson and steam mop - work wonders smile Followed by bucket of soapy water and cloth for the walls.

I tend to use fleece blankets to cover things and just rotate and wash them.

We have three dogs at the moment. A Corgi-X who moults everywhere, a Cavalier King Charles who seems to keep all his fur to himself and for another couple of days a Poodle who does not seem to lose anything at all.
Its the Corgi who is a nightmare coat wise, They all get a good grooming once a day. Place get hoovered once a day and mopped.
Wood floors, leather sofa etc, plus an easy shakable mat for the living room.

As for the car, thats another story smile NONE are allowed in the Scenic and the Espace is the dog carrier.

Ah, we had wooden floors once, the dogs managed to scratch deep gouges in them. Switched to tiles for that reason...

Golden Retriever here.... hair everywhere....

It's the one thing that pisses me off... I'm not overly bothered about a spotless house... but the hair literally is everywhere..

I buy a new shirt, take it out of the wrapper and before I've put it on...it has a hair on it.... my suits are covered.... etc etc

The other thing I hate...is if she goes in the garden... has a widdle and then often promptly stands in it.... then walks into the house.... I'm sure our carpets if you analysed them are probably horrendous....

We steam them every year and hoover almost daily.....

Dogs have run of one room only in the day, but with five spaniels and white tiled floors it gets very muddy very quickly! That room is swept and mopped every day, rest of downstairs is swept everyday, mopped about once a week.

Upstairs is full of the Cat hairing the place up, the missus has even resorted to banishing her from our bedroom since our last major hoover up in there.

Downstairs is pretty alright but the corners and under the sofa is where our husky's hair tends to be found. That or the missus has had a stressful day at work so has a good old hair plucking session on it so you get a carrier bag full that ive normally got to clean up!

We have tiles and wood floors and with my old german wire hair pointer you used to be amazed how many hairs you'd find imediately after cleaning up. So bad infact that you'd never dare have carpets. My GSP is no where near as bad, a few muddy foot prints thats all. She does get rinsed down outside though if she's muddy after we've been out.

I let my boys coat grow thicker during winter (in the summer he is clipped every 3 weeks) so we are hoovering twice or three times a week here

he has black fur and our carpet is light coloured (so that doesn't help)
the kitchen is bare wood flooring so that just gets a hoover, sweep and mop when needed

It looks as though I get an easy ride - even though I let my Springer's coat grow long over each winter I never get much hair around the place, and I have a decontamination zone by the back door which he can't pass till his feet and undercarriage are spotless. I just get him nice and clean outside and then get him to lie on a towel just inside the kitchen.

I'm very particular about my house so it's always spotless biggrin

We have a cross Staff / Rottweiler, she loses a lot of hair and it makes me sneeze and have a weasy chest sometimes, we hoover everyday without fail and still I was suffering, it was only when we got a carpet cleaner round did we see the amount of hairs the hoover doesn't lift from the carpet, enough to make a fair few wigs!

Got a fluffy Belgian Shepherd. We have a bit of a dusty hallway (wooden floor) where she gets muddy on her walks. We mop/ hoover there about once a week depending on the weather and the rest of the hose id fine. She does not even try to come upstairs, which is probably best as they are polished wood and knowing her she would kill herself on the way down. She is left in the tiled kitchen when alone in the house and only allowed into the carpeted living room when dry, only need to hoover in there every 2 weeks.
For such a fluffy dog she does shed an amazingly small amount, though I expect she will make a mess when she moults.
