Dog fleeces

I'm looking at getting some sort of fleece pullover for my Springer to help dry him and keep him warm after wet walks, so I just wondered if anyone out there has something similar they can recommend. This is one which looks good:

Equafleece are very good, but expensive I think there are 'shops' on Ebay that sell good jumpers. I don't use them on my dogs so haven't retained the info in my bonce. Sorry!

I have a number of the Equafleece products and they're great quality.

Only problem is the "jumpers" are a bit difficult to get on and off a greyhound.

Thanks for the replies.

I think I'll go for one that just fits over the back and sides as keeping him warm is more of a priority than drying him, I'll just have to spend a bit more time towling him off.

My lab lives outside during the day. I did consider leaving him in the house one day when the temperature hit -10. However, I opened the back door and threw a few biscuits onto the lawn as I do every morning. He ran straight out without noticing the cold.

Dogs = tough.

It's to be worm when he's in the kitchen at night, and after wet walks when he tends to get chilly now that he's getting older. There's no way he needs one on walks, his tounge's usually fully out after 5 minutes!

Fair enough... a towel off and a snuggle bed or fire to lie in front of?

(I am just saving you the eye gouging and biting from trying to fit a Springer in to a jumper )

Yeah, getting him into one might have been tricky!! Weirdly he never goes anywhere near radiators or the fire, even when it's well below outside. He's an odd one...

have you seen the (expensive) Comfy fleecey Beds from Orvis ? I deny a dog to love them.....

my god those beds are expensive, they look lovely but i dont think i could face paying approx £200 for a dog bed

My friend's old boy (12) Springer has a equafleece jumper, they used to put him in it after walks to keep warm but now he's getting quite frail he wears it around the house and he wore it outside in the snow. He absolutely loves it and when our Springer tried it on, we had to drag her out of it, she really seemed to love the warm snuggly feeling.

We have a drying coat for ours, it's fleece on the outside and towelling on the inside which has a wide velcro strap that goes under her tummy.

We towel her off when she's really wet and muddy and then put her in her drying coat - she loves it and it stops her depositing some of the crud around the house.

I'd love an Equafleece for her but we don't have the budget at the mo.

Ours was made by a lady on the Springer forum I use (its a spring thing) but it's similar to the one in the picture. I'll try to get a picture of her in it.

We got an Equafleece for our poodle for £17 from Crufts, had it about 4 years, still looks like new plenty of washes and rough treatment by the dog.

Equafleeces are fantastic. I have one for my springer and use it on him at lunchtime when we are shooting so that he doesn't get cold and stiff before the afternoon drives. Then dress him up in it at the end of the day so he is kept warm before we get home. They are fantastic at drying the dog off after a wet day. The polartec material wicks all the moisture out so that when you take the coat off the dog is dry. Worth it's weight in gold in helping to reduce possible future rheumatism and arthritis problems.
Only problem is that my dog hates having it put on!

I do like the idea of the equafleece but I think a simple coat is more suitable, plus I reckon I'd get sick of trying to get him in it every day..!

Quick work! It is easier to get a coat on than to pull their legs into a fleece. I love the look of the fleeces though - I'm hoping that Lola will inhereit one from her old Uncle!

Its just people treating their dogs like humans and not dogs.

My dog has pretty much zero hair on her chest and tum. She also shivers when outside if the temperature is anything under +5°C (if she's not running). She requires some supplementary insulation.

Others have said that their dogs are elderly. I would assume that their circulation ain't what it used to be and hence their temperature control isn't in tip top condition. These dogs require some supplementary insulation.
