My cat doesnt drink water out of his bowl but will drink from the pond or any source of water say in a dirt bucket. As its all froozen outside and covered in snow my cats been looking for water, we put it down in his bowl but doesnt drink it. However the other day i found him in the bath drinking it from the bath why is this or is it my cat is strange. He is so depressed at the moment because of the snow he went out for 10 minitues and come back white so funny. Hes now looking out the window looking depressed.

The MILs cat Max is the same (excluding the bath drinking).

As an experiment:
Melt some snow in a pan. Swill out the bowl with "snow water" and fill with "snow water". See if it'll drink that.

I suspect what puts them off normally is the treatment chemicals in the water. But why he'd drink from the bath I'm not sure.

One of my cats is the same, often find grubby paw prints in the bath although both of them will also use their bowl.

This is pretty normal.

Cats do not like their drinking water to be kept beside their food. Best thing is to have a couple of bowls in other parts of the house.

One ours drinks happily from the cat bowl.

The other one will drink only from the dog bowl. And they will stand in line to wait for her to finish before they get a drink......

Mine dont drink from the bowl. The drink from the fountain and if you leave a glass of water out for yourself, they will scarf that. Or they sit by the sink and hint at you to turn the tap on.

Menacing hints.

Yep my cat is the same, he refused to drink from a bowl so I now have a glass of fresh water sitting on the draining board at all times.

Haha yes, forgot that one. Ours also view any glasses of water as theirs. So much so that if you have glass of water on a bedside table you have a good chance of a bedbath at some point during the night when it gets knocked overeek
Any drink with ice cubes in usually has our female cat fishing for the cubes.

Most of the cats I've had were always partial to having a drink out of the toilet, an amusing balancing act to watch especially if you can sneak up behind hem and clap loudly smile
