During this icy spell how do I keep squirrels off my nuts? My poor blue tits are freezing hanging about whilst these tree rats gnaw away.

parents made a bird table about 5 foot high and then covered the top with chicken wire, think there is a wooden box, but only the edges have wood, the rest is chicken wire

squirrels can not get their heads in, whilst the birds can fly in

the robins have learnt to fly in, pickup some seeds and fly out again without stopping

Thanks for all the replies, just ordered one of these http://www.amazon.co.uk/Stainless-Steel-Squirrel-P...

Looks ingenious but I wonder how long it will take them to work it out?
