My wife and I are emigrating to the USA on the 13th December and the home we initially had lined up for our two cats, Murdoch and Oscar has fallen through, much to our upset frown

We really don't want to send them to the Cats Protection League as we want to make sure they aren't split up, and would like them homed together if possible, by liked minded people who will continue to give them the care and freedom they have now.

CLICK HERE for a little bit of information about them both. (Click Save PDF rather than Open)

Please feel free to get in touch though my e-mail, iain [dot] macfarlane @ me [dot] com

Cats are located S75 1NG (J38 M1) but will travel to meet within reason.

Thanks :-(

Iain

We're going to be living in New York in an apartment. Although we could take them, I'm worried it wouldn't be the right thing to do.

They have both grown up with the freedom of our back garden, they climb trees, chase birds and butterflies, and sometimes catch mice. They have a knack of finding the sunny spots in the garden and will sunbathe when it's warm. I don't think its fair for them to go from that lifestyle, to one of sitting in an upper storey apartment all day looking out of the window, unable to get out and do anything.

In addition to this, as they've grown up on a quiet estate, they're not exactly streetwise. Every day when they hear the car returning from work they'll bound back to the house to meet you. On occasions they have bolted out from underneath a parked car, or a bush and galloped straight in front of the car to meet us at the front door. I don't think they'd last 5 minutes on the streets of Manhattan frown

Us too, but we're having enough trouble settling our latest in, and she's female!

I'm not making any promises here, as we have two loverly cats already, but we are only in S18, (so pretty close to you), but I'll speak to the boss wife and see what she says.

(detatched house, semi rural location)
I appreciate us men need to check with the boss with these types of thing, if you have any questions just drop me a line

Thanks

I've been speaking with the parents, who since the death of our family cat at the age of 22 have been think about replacing.

They have the pdf and have promised to speak about it.

It'd be a fantastic family home - a testament to this is Barney (RIP) being with us/them from 1988 to the 2010.

I wish we could take them but our middle aged cat doesn't like other moggies and we don't want to stress her as she is nearly blind now. But I wish you all the best in finding a suitable home for them.

Mac, I'm so sorry this has gone pearshaped.

Just to let you know, Cats Protection WILL NOT split up cats who are good friends eg sleep cuddled up together etc. - in fact, quite often they have pairs of cats bond while in their care and then go on to find them homes together. It would be better for many reasons to find them a home without involving CP mostly just that resources are tight this time of year - but if you need to, they will help.

Cats Protection are very good. Our current two came from them as kittens (litter siblings) & they were very thorough vetting us.

Best of luck with it all - not just re-homing the little guys but also the emigration.
