My 4 year old boxer has just done a 5 day stint in the vet due to pankriantitis, now the vet explained that its realy hard to pin point what caused it, she just said she needs to be on a low fat diet for the rest of her life, no treats, no dog biscuits, nothing....

She also said the best food to give her is Royal canin gastro intestinal low fat dry food, the vet only sells one make of dog food.....Royal canin.. its not that i dont trust the vet and i only want the best for my dog, but the food is just a low fat food, i have to give her 2 large scoops which seems alot and there isnt any protien or any other good stuff, its just low fat..

just wondering if anyone else has had a pet with the same problems,

ps, dog seems fine and back to her happy self, but she did for 3 years of being on bakers complete, which ive now learnt is the devils food for dogs..nothing good about it and this could of easily caused her problems in the 1st place..

Just some advise or tips would help, cheers

Have a read of this thread as I think it fits your needs and will hopefully be helpful for you. I hope your dog is feeling a lot better now.

My dog had a bout of pancreatitis a few yrs ago but his was triggered by eating a high concentrate of pure yeast! (which he pinched!!) so luckily was not a fatty food reason and he was able to carry on with a normal diet.
