Buy it off a proper breeder and not on the cheap from a farm!

They should have had all there vaccinations and certificated, a proper breeder shouldn't let the pup leave until they are 8 weeks old. Also make sure they are registered by the kennel club.

Remember a dogs not just for Christmas!!!!

hi mu uncle has had 2, and neither lived past 4.
They both came from good homes and were of a good pedigree.
They both had numerous skin and allergies problems, they were very good friends of the vet.
Apart from that they were really good pets.

I had two - one lived to about 12 - one to about 15.

One had skin problems and dodgy hips. Be prepared to go to the vets....

They were both lovely dogs.

ETA both were pedigree. In fact we got the 2nd one free because the first one had this hip problem and had to have surgery. Very glad we did though - and I'm pretty sure the first one prefered having a friend too, despite the problems.

tell me about it, she wants to call it snowflake (which I have said absolutely forget!) I want to call it something like "keith" or "matthew"

A westie was the only foster that bit me to buggery. I can't do terriers though. They just laugh at me.

We got this one looking for a home:

My Mother is on her 4th and 5th Westies, always been rescued, the previous 3 made it to 7, 12 and 15 years old and they have all been proper terriers (bitey/yappy hunter killers).

They are much harder work than you would think, can get ill, love attention and need lots of care. So pretty much like all dogs, do your research and i'm sure you will be fine, but if you have never trained a dog before go to classes and make sure it knows you are the boss.

Good Luck.

Suprise her with a proper Westie and don't worry about the gay connotations.
