Ironic that The Kennel Club's 'Discover Dogs' show - part of London dog week (promoting London as a dog friendly city!) doesn't let you take a dog along.

Bizarre that they didn't find an appropriate outdoor venue for this.

The freaks.

If your dog was aggressive then there would be trouble. Or if an MoP brought a dog in heat, not to mention not cleaning up after them. At least the dogs are in pens.... Except for the leos I was cuddling on the floor a couple of years ago.....

I'm not suggesting there are not "reasons" why they have done it. They will cite health and safety, hygiene, the venue rules etc etc.

And it's no more 'risk' than going to another area that has many dogs at the same time such as your local park on a sunny sunday. In fact the risk is probably much less at a ticketed event.

My point was that it's bizarre and quite ironic considering their positioning of the event within London Dog Week which exists to promote the city as dog friendly and I am surprised they have not held it at an open air venue.

I think they keep it enclosed given that there are hundreds of dogs on display and if it rained etc people woulnd't be too keen on exhibiting their dogs (I wasn't too keen to exhibit my mutt full stop) - I think you are right however that things like the displays could be held in a field but you have to consider that amount of shops etc that look to sell as well. I am not sure there is, at least in London, somewhere which could cover all of that!?!?

It would be chaos if everyone took dogs I think....and unfortuantely as with everything you have to set the rules for the people that would bring along a dog that has attitude problems. It would probably have a very large chain and it's owners would probably be wearing a grey hoodie, grey tracksuit bottoms and white trainers.

We went afew years ago when looking for a dog and discovered the Eurasier breed....had ours three years now!

I think it would be chaos if public brought their dogs. It can get very busy, and can be stressful for show dogs who are used to being in differant areas, having to go to the toilet inside, and crowds of people. For pet dogs not used to these it would be even worse. I have been up there with my old boy twice doing agility demos. If members of the public brought their dogs I would not go. Not that I think my dog is all that, or that "pet" dogs are poorly trained or agressive but putting so many dogs into that situation would increase the stress levels of my dog and increase the chances of my dog being attacked, which I would nothave put him through. I think many of the other people who give up their time to give demos, or provide dogs for the Discover Dog section would agree.

Where would you draw the line, would members of the public be allowed to take their dogs to Crufts?

Yes I think it would be chaos.

My point was about the sponsorship/promotion link being rather at odds with the event in question. Never mind.
