Our kitten, Spot, has turned into a slut
Discussion
The damn stupid tart is walking round the house, with her tail arched over her back, hips high in the air & bearing her un-mentionables for all and sundry to see (doing a worm dance as our 5yr old son described it).
Does anyone know how to stop a female cat from calling? At my suggestion, we have shut her in the garage all day, but that doesn't seem to have worked as a remedy.
Unfortunately, we can't get her "done" yet, as she is too small according to the vet.

You should get her spayed, ideally as soon as she stops the calling in a few days. During the summer she will continue this cycle roughly every 21 days.
Ideally you should have had her spayed by 5-6 months of age and it would have been very unlikely that she'll have ever called. Be prepared for some sleepless nights

Thanks Becks. For some reason, these things always happen right before my wife goes to the US for 2 weeks The last time she went away, the snake had some trouble shedding its skin, so I spent most of one night helping it. By way of thanks the slithery sod bit me.
I have a feeling that Spot will be living in the garage for the next week, as I really don't fancy getting wee'd on by her in the middle of the night.
On top of this, I have also been advised that our 6 goslings keep trying to escape from the gazebo we put up in the paddock to give them some shade. Consequently, the local buzzards are circling lower & lower over our house & I am under strict instructions not to let any animals die this time.

You can get her spayed at anytime but it's just better to do whilst she's not calling if possible as everything is a bit more delicate (we call it friable) when removing due to everything being larger than normal and more blood supply to the areas being removed, however most vets will spay if needed at any time during the calling phase. It's a day procedure, usually drop her off am and collect pm. Obviously phone vets first to book in, don't just turn up with her.
I'm suggesting all this on the assumption you are not planning to breed from her. Whatever you do don't let her out, she will attract Tom cats (if they mate her she may stop calling but then you'll have a pregnant cat to deal with!)
I missed your last sentence, how old is she and how much does she weigh. If she is 2kg or over she can be done, many animal charities spay cats at 4 months with no problems.

We are not planning to breed from her - the last thing I need in my life is MORE animals in the house! Last time she went to the vet (about 3 weeks ago for a check up), she was 1.7kg's, so the vet suggested we leave the spaying for a little longer due to her small size.
We were hoping she wouldn't get the horn for another month or so, so that we could get her done mid June, when my OH gets back.

Feed her lots in the next few days, get her weight up and book her in...problem solved . Seriously, ck her weight again, they can grow quick at that age. Speak to your vets tom and see what they'd be prepared to do. Good luck with her and the lack of sleep! We were hoping she wouldn't get the horn for another month or so, so that we could get her done mid June, when my OH gets back.
