Reminds me of an Fiat or Alfa Romeo magazine advert from the early 90s. The tagline was "Nobody in Italy ever grows up wanting to be a train driver".

Put a different perspective on why British cars weren't selling...

Not a train buff, but I probably would be if there were cooler looking locomotives around these days. I have no idea what this is, but the pic kinda makes me want one:

Delay due to snow on the rails? Whatever!

Locoheads: Rails matter hehe

Speed matters. TGV V150. It's duplex too, which is ace.

Also I love the Shinkansen 700 Series... looks like a squid, or something smile

Hmm. I'm not particular fan of the APT, but it does seem that the UK has a bit of a history of killing engineering achievements off and passing them to the Italians, Chineese, Indians...... Who then seem to have considerable success with them. Bonkers.

I often wonder if it is because the UK is capable of breeding people that think train spotters are some form of lowlife. I'm not saying that trainspotters are not an odd species, just that those who take the mick are odder!

Although posted in another thread I think this is worth repeating, to me this is a "proper" train, it just looks like trains should. Powerful and purposeful and a certain British eccentricity to put the icing on the cake.

Indeed, I guess here in the UK we don't like success. Unless it's some vapid bint on TV.
