So my daughter has a habit of collecting animals, 1 dog, 2 sheep and a horse. Many of which I end up walking, feeding, sheering etc whilst she is at work.
About a month ago, I get a call late at work from her travelling back from the yard on the back lanes of Somerset. And any late night phone call from anyone’s children always makes the heart miss a beat! She was blocked behind a delivery van, who had stopped for a dog in the road eating road kill rabbit. Grabbing a lead rope she grabbed him and stuck him in the pickup and home he came.

Filthy, skin and bones and no name tag or registered chip, she stuck a picture on FB local groups, which raised no leads or owners. The dog warden was informed but again no real help with the only option of off to the lost dog’s home, which seemed a bit unkind as we had 2 dogs already.
So he stayed. A trip to the vet the next day and discussion suggested probably 9-12 months as adult teeth but v young and malnourished. And probably of traveller surplus to requirement abandonment background, which the dog warden concurred with.
He pretty much slept for 3 days apart from food and water in a covered crate. Since then, several baths, food, treats, worming, flea-ing, he is a different dog.

Unlike cars, n+1 is one too many so he needs to go. Which is a shame as he is now a lovely fun little puppy although shoes, socks, rugs and anything else floor level is getting relocated to his bed or garden. Fortunately it looks like a retired couple opposite are going to re home him, as she has been wanting a dog for a few years so perhaps fate? And will be nice to see him grow.
From a near death abandoned experience to the life of Reilly. Got named Steven for no real reason but the vet didn’t want to put down Stray Dog once they had met him.

Hope Steveooooo’s story makes you smile on a Saturday morning. R

So a month later and after a couple of failed rehoming attempts and now re-named Nugget, he has gone to a friend of a friend locally so should see him occasionally

Looks a lot better than 6 weeks ago. Updates from his new parents are favourite things include sleeping on the sofa and running around like a mad thing until sleeping on the sofa.

Poor little sod.
"Fell off the CoOp but landed in the Divi" as my MIL would have said.
to your daughter and you OP.
Great expression and one I have not heard before. "Fell off the CoOp but landed in the Divi" as my MIL would have said.
to your daughter and you OP.Where was your MIL from? Also sounds like the kind of thing my Mancunian late granny came out with occasionally.

She had a good repertoire. One of my favourites was when she saw me standing in the landing in the middle of thinking "I know I was going somewhere, but I forgot where and why".
Don't lie; you've done it too.
She said "You're like one o'clock, half struck".
Anyway...
How's the little pupkin OP?

Funny you should ask. Knock on the door yesterday and his new family dropping off our travel crate they used. Opened the door and Nugget tore straight through the house trailing his lead desperate to get to the garden! How's the little pupkin OP?
My daughter’s Yogi was pleased to see him back for a run around. Job done!
