Indoor puppy pen
Discussion
Our amazing dog passed just before Christmas, I'm in no rush but have always been clear I don't want a house without a dog in it.
Our Lucy was 12 and we had her from a pup, will be doing the same again.
Lucy joined us in our old house which had a small kitchen we put a baby gate on to give her enough room to have a play but keep in a safe enclosed space on a hard floor so the accidents puppies have were easy to clean up.
Current house has more space not no area I can easily close of with a baby gate, thinking a puppy pen would been a good idea.
Does anyone have any recommendations please ?

We used a crate with two doors one into the kitchen and one into the pen which was comprised of a series of panels like this one
Worked brilliantly with our first pup, a cocker, he loved his crate and slept in it only leaving to poop in pen area. Crate and pen really useful for containing him during day when not under 100% supervision.
Second pup, a springer, didn't like the crate. Howled to be let out and would try to leap over panels. Part of the problem was maybe that the panels weren't high enough and only secured by rods between the linked mesh of each panel. He would basically launch himself at them pushing the whole structure around. The cocker treated it as an immovable fixture so not a problem. We should have persisted with the crate and paid the price with a wider distribution of faeces and more destructive activity around house. In retrospect rather than giving up with both we should have toughed it out with the crate.
Both pups were easy to toilet train. Only accidents after first few days were us not paying attention or losing track of time.
If you have an active breed think taller than you might imagine and maybe something a bit more fixed and robust. The advantage of the cheap panels is they are easy to pack and take on holiday or adapt for blocking off stairs or places you don't want them to be,

We have very similar to what ^^^^^ has recommended, removed a couple of panels to make it a “more appropriate” size…. Puppy used it from day one when we brought him home he’s nearly a year old now, still uses it every for snoozes and at night, although we rarely actually shut the door now…. We’ve two dogs and they’ve agreed this is the “puppies place”.
When we go away we fold it up and take it with us, whee ever we put it is where he sleeps.
