I'm clearing quite extensive spider webs off cars, house windows, and ceiling corners daily, and they're back again the next morning.

I'm using a cordless vacuum, mostly, and I'm sucking up the spiders too.

Are there loads around, or am I being targetted?

It's the time of year that Araneus start to get big so you see a lot of them about now. Mostly just garden spider, also known as cross spider. Although they have a nice temperament and hardly ever get cross.

I'm not scared of them, I'm just annoyed.

Don't worry Doofus, it's a compliment, I think it's the same as nits, they prefer the ambience of clean kid's hair rather than a skanky barnett, same with spiders, they prefer to reside in the home of a neat freak.

They misread the address, in that case.

The ones I get most over the last few years are Pholcus, usually in the corners of rooms or under shelves. They may look awkward but try hitting one and you'll find out they're quite smart.

I can't remember the last one I saw. Maybe you've got all mine?

redcard

I suspect that word has spread on the spider grapevine that you're a mass murderer, and they're targeting you.

Pholcus are nails. Easily taking on the giant house spiders and the tough looking false widows! My typo had that as giant horse spider!

those really big, fast ones which run across the floor this time of year and evade normal capture methods (landmines, trip wires etc). What are those?

They are giant house spiders and are the stuff of my absolute nightmares. I dread this time of year because of these fkers

September is spider month, they come in looking to mate and have babies. One ran right past my face in bed last night. Hateful.

Was it mating with your ear or nose hair? Check for evidence, discarded spider jizz or post coital cigarettes.

Yes; once around my landing I had one Pholcus and about four normal spiders. Over the course of a fortnight he got them all.

I generally tolerate normal spiders - beyond a certain size they get put outside - but I kill every Pholcus I see.... just something about them...

Mike, being female I have no either ear or nose hair. It mated with a big grabber stick thingy I found and then the toilet bowl.

first of all there is NO WAY I'm clicking on that link. Thats going to have pictures of them isnt it. Should probably flag it as NSFW or something.

Secondly, who the hell decided to call them "House spiders" No wonder the feel free to roam about at tea time- its like we're inviting them in. Why not call them "bottom of the garden spiders" or "MP underpants spiders" so they'll be nowehere near me. At least then they'll start to get the message. But house spiders?? I imagine they'll arrive, unpack then decide to explore the house. By that time its evening/night and scare us all silly.

In fact its a wonder the labour party haven't tried to ban them or something.
