I've been feeding mine this for years: https://www.amazon.co.uk/ROYAL-CANIN-Ageing-Cat-Fo...

But they're clearly not fans anymore, so they barely touch it (they used to get through it rather quickly, now it lasts weeks) and so they're constantly hanging around begging for yet more wet food.

Anyone got any suggestions of dry food their cats love? I don't really care what the health labels are attached anymore, my cats at 16 so I don't mind them eating stuff they actually like.

My main goal here is that they are back to happy grazing on dry food again between their wet meals.....

Mine will both happily munch on Canagan dry food. One idea might be to visit a big store, and pick up a few end of date bags to see what hits with them. And it s a great way of buying "honest, these are dreamies, just in a really big bag"

I cycle my eight through IAMS, Purina One with Go-Cat in a separate bowl. I swap the flavours from chicken to Ocean Fish, to Duck.

Obviously having eight I buy in bulk, but I've found Zooplus a good place to buy with plenty of variety.

Have you been keeping yours on the same flavour? Perhaps they're bored with it and just a different flavour would help?

Ours eats this https://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/cats/dry_cat_food/i...

She usually sticks to one flavour, but has gone off some as you describe. YMMV!

Yep, it has been the exact same thing for a long time, so no wonder they're bored. It was just the only one I could find designed for cats over 12, but I'm happy to move away from that if it gets them actually eating it.

Just buy a different flavour!

I'd have eight little furry faces looking at me in disgust after two weeks of the same flavour. hehe

Yeah as above, that 12+ only comes in one flavour, try to get something totally different.

Hills 11+

My Cat mainly eats wet food, but she tucks into this as well and I’ve not had to change it for years.

Interesting. Mine has been eating same for years and has recently shown dismay (for want of a better word !) at it.

Wonder if its a new recipe? More lips'n'asshls than usual perhaps ?

Wish the bloody thing would eat something cheaper tbh !

Purina One is one of my cat's favourites. The CoOp also sells 'Perfect Fit' which doesn't sound like cat biscuits but goes down well.

Surprised you didn't think of changing the brand/flavour sooner!

James Wellbeloved was our cat's favourite, not cheap but great quality.

Kept Katboy going to the age of 17. RiP.

We fed ours on Royal Canin Sensible for years on vets advice as Tilly has a very sensitive & small stomach. We switched their wet food to Lidl's own when they started getting fussy about Sheba and that went well so we also tried the own brand dry food and they love that too. Much cheaper is a bonus. Think it's called Coshida.

I know, bit stupid, but I thought it was best sticking with the only one that seemed designed for cats of their age, but if they won't touch the stuff it's not very helpful! haha

Several brands do a '7+'. Your cat is older than 7 smile

That said, when I looked at the ingredients in normal cat biscuits vs. the equivalent 'senior' version, I couldn't see any difference, so I suspect there's a marketing element there.

Yeah I reckon you're probably right.

In other news, totally different brand/flavour of stuff arrived yesterday, they're just as uninterested. So they continue to just pester for wet food.

Ahh. They've discovered wet food.

This will now be a standoff until you submit to their demands. Which you will. laugh

They used to be fairly balanced with both, certainly not the 95% to 5% ratio of wet food it is these days!

It's so true. Cats would rather starve than eat something they no longer like... and we always have to let them win.
