We live on the edge of our village and our cat is a prolific hunter and giver of gifts - often alive. During fledging season we had to set up a direct debit to our 'local' animal rescue as we visited so often.

OnlyCat have a 'smart' catflap which claims uses AI to lock the flap in the event of prey being detected on its way in.

Does anyone have any experience of this - reviews are not exactly easy to find!

Have looked at these, but until recently they weren't shipping anything.

My gut feel is that this is 'version 1.0' - not sure how effective it is. My concern with early versions is false positives that lock a cat out when it isn't actually carrying a present.

That's where I am at too. Not swayed by the £499 down to £199 discount either!

A collar with a bell on it would be cheaper... though personally I don't like to see cats with collars.

Not terribly effective though.

Not effective at all. In fact her present giving accelerated after fitting it.

We have a similar problem - sporadic, but frequent enough that I'm now adept at (usually within 60 seconds or so of being woken up) shining a torchlight in a mouse's face to scare it into immobility while I reach around and grab its tail so I can throw it out of the window. Usually while it's on the bed and Mrs H is being useless... hehe

The occasional bird is far more of a challenge... eek
