I'm not one for sharing on social media but I wanted to honour him somewhere as I'm still a bit numb.

16 Years, we couldn't have asked for a friendlier and loving companion.

Sadly his health rapidly declined over the last few months and this morning we found him soiled and under the bed unable to move. An hour later I was at the vets and it was all over.

Goodbye old friend, really going to miss you frown

Really sorry to hear that, we lost Katboy almost a year ago at the age of 17 and haven't been able to think about another cat.

RiP Dexter.

I think this thread is the best area for shedding memories of animals who have died.

Most of us will have gone through what you are and are therefore sympathetic

RIP Dexter - great name

Sorry to hear about Dexter frown They are fascinating little things that really get under your skin and leave a huge hole when they're gone.

Losing a pet is incredibly hard. It’s okay to feel sad and to miss Dexter. They become such a big part of our lives and leave a pet shaped gap when they depart. Any more piccies of Dexter?

Thanks all

We saw him in a pet shop in Hayes, Middlesex back on 2008 (back when you could buy a cat in a pet shop!)

We happened to be watching the series "Dexter" and the name stuck

Sure - this was the day after we brought him home in a cardboard box

This one was taken a couple of years ago

More recently with the new youngster Fergus, (very tolerant and patient with him)

Wonderful photos. RIP Dexter We lost or cat Luna 10 days ago so I share your pain. We got a lovely handwritten card from the vets. I’ll share the prose later.

I'm very sorry for your loss.

I lost my own cat, Harvey, 6 weeks ago today. He was 14, and sadly his health declined very rapidly over the space of less than a week. It was so hard to say goodbye, but it was the right thing to do.

It does get a bit easier, but it's been a hard few weeks as I've missed his furry presence about the place.

Rest in peace Dexter. Hope you’re OK Skii.

I think it’s great we’ve got a place on here to get support from like minded people.

We get so close to the little critters. I know I’d be in pieces if anything happened to ours and my thoughts are with you.
