Hoverfly/bee ID

Any ideas on this someone suggested a type of hoverfly but pictures online don’t seem to exactly match plus the weird sting bit?

Think it's a hornet hoverfly, no sting, just mimics a hornet so predators give it a wide berth

.. i think it's actually a bee. Gap between eyes and too hairy for a fly

Closest I’ve thought is Sericomyia superbiens but I still don’t think that’s correct.

I'm a bit of an insect spotter....google lens has ruined the fun to an extent though!

yes that’s me although I decided not to renew this year due to the way they were heading just seemed like a money grab.
