365 Days ago, my life inexplicably changed
Discussion
Sorry, not sorry for the image overload!!
365 days ago my life changed. For years I've lived vicariously through this sub forum and I finally put my big boy pants on and got myself a puppy!
Say hi to Daisy, the utterly bonkers Springer (aren't they all)
1st time seeing snow
1st trip to the beach. I took her to Brean Sands. She absolutely loved it there
Very rare we come back from a walk where she is still clean! Always manages to find water somehow!
First groom
Help you with the recycling Dad?
I live alone and I also permanently work from home. She has enriched my life immensely.
Although for the first couple of months I looked like I was self harming. She was like a little velociraptor!!
From sitting at a desk for 8 hours and then transferring my ass to the sofa, I've gone from 2k steps to over 15k steps daily
I've lost 4 stone in weight and there is no more 'I cannot be arsed to get out of bed' days anymore.
My mental health has greatly improved
BEST DECISION EVER!!!!

Nothing prepares you for sharing a house with a spaniel, daisy looks to have that missing gene the one that connects to the off switch…she is a stunner though and massive congrats on weight loss.
Had vin 2 years now and he still amazes me everyday with something...today was no different…decided to help our daughter clean out a cupboard…this is what he chooses to steal might be from the milk bottle blowing in front of him while walking he now lives in fear of his life.

Beautiful! Springers are fabulous, but let's be honest, all dogs are awesome.
We have a Boxer who is an utter lunatic. He is our second and even more of a loon than the first one.
My weekly Fitbit report hovers between 80,000-100,000 steps per week, but if it weren't for Phoenix needing his walks everyday, it would undoubtedly be substantially less.
I work from home too, so having him around snoring, farting and generally being a bit of a pain in the arse is something I would be lost without.

Yes!! The most excellent choice of dog OP.
I shamelessly biased and think Springers are clearly the best dog, infact, animal, on God's Green Earth. Always entertaining, occasionally troublesome and great companions. Both of My Dad's Springers were land sharks when they were little, just like yours.
Enjoy in good health - well done on the 4st loss too.

I had never been owned by a dog until I met my second wife, in 2002.
She agreed to move to the other side of the country and live with me, but the trade off was we had to get a dog..
We actually got our rescue border collie two months before she moved in, so I had time to do as you have, get used to looking after and to caring for every need of a lively and excited collie who had been in Wood Green for months.
In the end I did most of the dog walking and it has got me out of the house. I too work from home, and it gets me put and about and meeting people and dogs.
Jessie was a delight and she, and her successors, have given me great joy. Now I can;t walk as far I do the morning trip to the park with Marley, the bonkers retriever collie cross that we adopted 7 months ago. He follows on from two loely border collies, and we have also had a cocker spaniel for the last 14 years.
Jessie (2002-2010)
Sam (2010-2023)
Marley (2023-
Sky, (2010 - with Marley
You have done the best thing, as you know yourself. Enjoy a better life and a smaller arse.
