Just a few unedited shots from our safari to Mikumi.
We hired a car in Dar es Salaam and self drove, and stayed three nights at Camp Bastien (highly recommended). This is in my opinion by far the best way to do a budget safari, if you're confident enough to drive off road, and forward enough to ask the other guides where the action is.

Very happy to see my first Leopard, a very rare sight in this park.

Thanks for looking!

It's ok, I'm jealous of myself! We followed another guide off the roadways (a big no no) but in the distance we could see a cluster of cars around a tree so we knew there was something worth going to see.
There were four lions sitting around the tree, and the Leopard was stuck up there. Who knows how long he'd been up there. As more people arrived, the lions sauntered off, and the Leopard came down and made a run for freedom past our bonnet. Great experience!
