Cat food + babies
Discussion
What do people with babies/toddler do about cat food?
Pre-baby we had a bowl of dry food always available, water fountain and then fed twice a day wet food, all in the kitchen.
But now, with a baby walking around, she'll eat the biscuits if she can, and make a right mess of the water.
At the moment we have to leave the water in a bowl outside, and that's where we feed the wet food, and the dry food sits on the kitchen worktop.
Cats eating on the worktop is not ideal, and leaving the wet food bowls outside means the local dhead bully cat keeps coming around to steal the scraps.
Not sure there's much else we can do until the baby is old enough to learn what NO actually means?!

Similar issue for us except the dog likes eating the cat food.
We have a utility room so the cat eats on the worktop out there.
Our cat goes everywhere
We do have a small utility room, issue there is this horrible local cat can also just wander in there and help itself if we leave everything in there. We have a utility room so the cat eats on the worktop out there.

A microchip cat flap will fix that.Jordie Barretts sock said:
If you cattle prod the toddler every time it goes near the cat food, I doubt it'll take more than a day or two to stop.
Cattle prod seems a little excessive! I was going to suggest keeping the bairn on a lead, cat was there first, etc, etc…. If that doesn’t work, yeah try the cattle prod. UTH said:
