Google lens says carpet beetle.

Its a decent app now, my go to if I see something and want to know what it is. Snap it with my phone camera and the app searches for similar images that often have text explaining what it is.

That’s not a carpet beetle, it’s larvae of a carpet beetle and they can do a lot of damage to any natural fibres in your home. If that was in your house you need to treat it! And I don’t mean take it out for dinner….

It was in some washing. Maybe came in from outside? Who knows.

I have not seen any more but will be looking very closely just in case.

We hoover twice a week, my wife is a clean freak so she is now going round with a torch looking for more....

We’ve just bought an LED ultraviolet torch for travel, maybe that would pick up the protein waste matter from these bugs? (if they have any) could give an idea if there are others..

Looks like a burrowing ear weevil. They usually enter whilst you are sleeping.

You’ll tend to find them in the areas of carpeted that don’t get hoovered or walked over frequently. Best place to look is under chairs/sofas/cabinets etc and focus on the edges within say 300mm of the skirting boards and the corners.

Fingers crossed it’s just a stray!

We have a machine that goes under the furniture (Neato) so will have a look in its dust box.
