Morning

Our whippet, Rudy, 3 years old. We’ve found 1 flea on him in 3 years. We treat him every month and so far so good.

Last night, on his evening walk, we think he stuck his head in a bush, as they do, and when we got home, we found 6 fleas on him. Does this sound like something that could happen? After he’d put his head in where he shouldn’t, he was scratching his face, and neck. To begin with, we didn’t think too much of it, and tried to have a look at what the problem was, but in dimming light, couldn’t see. It was only when we got home we could see 3/4 on his face/neck, and a couple elsewhere.

We immediately gave him a good combing, and then bathed him, as we have some anti flea shampoo. Also washed all his blankets and bedding, and have run the hoover round the house and had the cushions off the sofa. Wife has also ordered some flea killing dog gas stuff to spray.

Anyone else experienced similar on a walk or something? He’s an only dog, and rarely has contact with other dogs.

Pic of the fella to liven the thread.

My old hound was fascinated by hedgehogs and would get up close and personal with them as often as possible. After he did we had to spend hours de-fleaing him. He was wired haired and so the fleas had more opportunity than they would with a smooth haired dog. A possibility?
