Hi all,

Hope you are all keeping well. Can stress related over grooming cause scabs? We are trying to pinpoint why our cat suddenly seems to have developed an itch. He is up to date with his flea and worming treatment. He has some scabs around his ears and on his belly (these take some finding). He has lost no fur, and most of his excess licking seems to be around his paws/legs. We’ve had him to the vets once, which he hates, they in effect said he was fine and gave him a steroid injection which did stop his itching temporarily but it has returned.

We’ve subsequently obtained some Prednicare from the vets, but we have God’s own job trying to get them into him. Initially I could hoodwink him with a hollowed out Dreamie but he’s now figured this out. We have drops that go in his water too, he has figured this out also. We have new hypoallergenic food which he is eating but it is still early days. In truth I don’t want him back to the vet for his own sake, but nor do I want him to suffer with this issue either. Has anyone experienced similar?

One of our cats gets dandruff but it goes away if we put cod liver oil in his food each day.

L lysine can also give their immune system a boost.
