Our lovely cat is great but for some reason she stands when she pees so it just sprays over the back wall of the tray (it's covered thankfully)

Also she seems incapable of covering her poo she just scrats at the hood of the tray instead like she is a bit special. So it doesn't seem that she is trying to leave it exposed shd just hasn't really figured stuff out she is about 20 months old now

Taken from her mother too soon is the likely cause, she won’t have followed mums example.

In terms of mitigation, there isn’t much you can do to ‘teach’ her the correct way.

We had a similar issue many years back and the cat never learnt to cover its poop.
