Cats vomiting isn't new - mine do it sometimes much like any others, and 99% of the time when they've done it you can see what caused it, usually see some plastic they've chewed, some grass or their own hair etc

I just witnessed one of mine do it, end result being some hair coming up, but this time before the actual 'vomit', when he was doing the usual retching that cats do, a rather large of amount saliva was coming out. In the 15 years of ownership, any time there's been a vomiting incident there's usually a very small patch of saliva (or is it bile??) and then the hairball (or whatever) sitting in it.

But this time the patch of saliva was a lot! I used 4 or 5 sheets of paper towel and they were drenched within seconds of mopping it up.

As usual he seemed fine after getting rid of the bit of hair he was throwing up, but this large amount of saliva beforehand was surprising.

Anyone seen similar?

How old is the cat? Mine was 13 and started being sick every day, usually just thick foamy saliva if she hadn't eaten for a while. Turned out to be hyperthyroidism. Easy to pick up with a blood test and quite easy to treat.

Getting on for 15.5 now.......
I did wonder if there's anything to do with a thyroid issue actually.....trip to the vet I think. I'm becoming all too aware that 15 isn't young frown
