Mrs Loto found this little guy on the road over the weekend, no bigger than the palm of her hand - she said he was very tame and didn't even roll when picked up. He was tucking into a 'shell on' snail at the time.

She moved him onto a quiet side lane verge where there's no traffic, hope the poor fella made it.

The rule of thumb is "out in the day, not okay"

Do you have a local hedgehog rescue centre?

Bit late for that but even so he was clearly fit and able to feed himself so whilst he was a juvenile he seemed viable and not in need of 'care' as such.

....I always move a hog into a field or away from the road when I find one on the basis that nature probably knows best.

This long spell of hot dry weather can be quite hard on hedgehogs, more difficult to find their usual food
