Need advice.

Looking after a dog, a four year old labradoodle, it is our 6th week together.

He seems fine and happy, eats well, but hardly drinks at all, he never drank much but now virttually non at all. Come back from walk, I do two miles, he does probably about 10, and he doesn't touch any water.

We come back from walkies about 8pm last night and he has not been outside yet, it is now 6pm next day.

In the Last week or so he has become quite lazy too.

When he does p he does so in short bursts.

What food is he on ? Dogs get a lot of moisture from food if it's wet based, so tend not to drink much extra, if it's dry kibble, you'd expect them to drink more, as there's obviously less water content.

Some dogs drink lots regardless, some don't, they are all different, but I'd be worried if a dog who usually drank, stopped.

If in any doubt have him checked out by the vet. The lack of peeing sounds like he's dehydrated at least.

Yep, agree. In this weather (assuming it's warm with you too) I am surprised a dog is drinking less so I would be getting him checked out.

On a hot day, if I think our Labrador hasn't drunk enough, I throw some frozen peas in his water bowl.

He goes mad for them and will eat them all while also consuming a large amount of water.

Is there something yours is mad for that you can put in his water?

I like the idea that if a dog is not doing enough pees you give him peas...!
