Over the last few years I've been regularly treating our 2 cats to flea treatment (vet supplied). Applied by myself with some treats. It's only been about a month or so and one of them has come back with what look like fleas (helps he's mostly white) but he rolls by some bushes do they could be something else. Not 100% sure but to be safe had to leave them both outside for the night to save home infestation.

Question I have, will I now have to take them to the vets to get them professionally treated or will they sell me another batch before the 3 months so I can apply to them and eventually bring them in after a few more days? Any advice greatly appreciated

Only people that can safely answer that question are the prescribing vets.
Quick phone call should do it.

Spoke to the vet, they said with the particular brand they use it's 3 months between application. Slight caveat that if I didn't get it all on then it could be applied however from what I described (black round body, red legs & about 6-7mm long) it doesn't sound like a flea and could very well have just been picked up via one of the many bushes/hedges they pass around/through the area.

Plan now is to lure them to the back and to comb them with the flea comb to see if there is anything there, if not will be fine, if not to give them another call and see. The lady seemed confident that even if he had something the stuff in their system would mean they wouldn't survive on them for a long period of time.

We use Broadline, which is put on the back of the neck with a handy syringe every month. Seems to work very well.
