Cat hyperthyroidism
Discussion
About a year ago my cat (about 12) was diagnosed with this, and with the correct dose of thyronorm it's under control.
However last week when she went in for a check, the vet thought there might be something wring with her sight. He dropped a wisp of cotton wool in front of her several times but she showed no interest. We thought that maybe it was just the stress of being at the vet. Since then I've experimented a little more, and whilst she seems normal in jumping up onto windowsills and getting around, she doesn't take any interest in a laser pointer. I just wondered if the condition is known to cause vision problems, and if so whether anything can be done. Thanks for any pointers (ha see what I did there).

Did they check blood pressure? Apparently not uncommon for cats with hyperthyroidism and can cause eye problems
Thanks. Not while I was there (in the consulting room) but he might have done it when they took her off for the blood test. If so he didn't mention it. She gets very stressed at the vets so I guess a blood pressure reading would show it high anyway, would it not?I might call them on Tuesday and check.
