I've a 12 year old dog which makes her old for her size (cross breed of all sorts but largely GSD).

She's always pee'd quickly, but in the last month or so she now takes ages and dribbles pee rather than a good stream, it can take ten minutes.

Is this a natural part of aging, as it can be with people, or could there be some underlying issue causing this?

It's sad to see this deterioration when otherwise she appears completely healthy.

TIA

I'd take her to the vet.

I’d see the vet and ask for hrt treatment, I’ve know it to work really well in the older girls with this issue.

Let us know how it goes; hope it's easily fixed.

For those interested:

The ten minute+ slow dribbly pees were due to cystitis, got a course of antibiotics for this. Never had this before.

General slowness getting up/sitting down due to arthritis.

Thanks for the update. Good to hear you've got the cystitis diagnosed and that it's being treated.

I didn’t even know dogs could get it. I’m so glad this issue could be treated as it got to the point where she’d want to go out every hour then spend ten or more minutes doing a dribble at most but as she’s old she couldn’t squat that long so was wobbling over etc. It’ll be good to get it cracked so she can be comfortable in her old age.
