The most I've previously done with Chewie is a circa 14 mile hike. Don't think I fed him anything special, just a bit of food beforehand and some food once back at the car. In a few weeks we're doing the Clarendon Way, which is 26ish miles.

I'll feed him some sardines beforehand, and something in the evening, but I'm wondering if I should be taking anything special for him during the day. We will be aiming for around 12.30 min/miles, so faster than walking pace but below running pace.

Thanks in advance

I presume Chewie is a dog. If he's a goldfish he's an impressive specimen.

Id say that if he has his breakfast then should be fine on that sort of pace / distance, presuming he isn't something massive that will burn through energy?

I'd often do 10-15 mile runs, about 7 min miles with my shepherd and she was always fine if she had eaten before or not. If you are going to be out for a long time then maybe take something light they can nibble on or have a little break pat way to snack.

I'm fairly sure friends of mine have done ultra marathons, like 50 miles with their dogs and all been ok.
