Hi

I have a 4 year old dog and have the pleasure of looking after Sister in Laws puppy (14 weeks old) for 3 days.

Usually my wife would be here to help but she is away with her Sister.

So far it’s going ‘ok’ but my dog is getting frustrated at being woken up early, not sitting next to me and getting pounced on whilst getting dried after his walk….the puppy is fixated on chewing towels

My dog is socialised really well so isn’t really reacting to losing toys or sharing stuff. So far he only seemed properly frustrated when my son came home and the puppy got in the way of his usual greeting

Aside from trying to separate them at times via different rooms or puppy play pen, any other tips for a successful coexistence? I will walk my dog solo later and the puppy (briefly) solo later

Ps this post isn’t meant to come over as a moan as it’s pretty fun, just want the best for both dogs and the puppy is clearly already learning from my dog which is fascinating to watch for an inexperienced dog person

Unfortunately the puppy is being a puppy and into everything. As it’s only for a couple of days just walk them separately, and try and separate when needed.

Puppies that young don't need walking do they? Just active play I thought?

He is fully vaccinated and he gets short walks from his owners. I took him round the village for a 10 minute walk/sniff …. and a trip to the local as well

He did get plenty of active play as well.
