It's our little guys birthday coming up and I'd like to cook him a steak...

Which steak is a good cut for a dog which I'll be able to get from a supermarket?...

He will not care.

Don't even cook it.

This, if you do cook it the cut still doesn't matter. Its only us humans that have convinced ourselves certain cuts are better. Wild canines would go for the offal first as its the most nutritious. If I fancy giving my dog a treat she gets raw lambs heart, she loves the chewy bits.

Wagyu rib eye 10oz. Anything else is just being tight.

Three of them.

Don't forget to put photos on the internet or there's no point.

this is spot on - dogs know!

My bouvier had offal and bones every day until he could no longer chew them, then we pressure cooked them for him. Bouv's normally live to around 10, he went at 13 and was fit until the last few months.

I love my dog to bits but that's crazy, the dog won't give a st, and would prefer it raw, whatever it was.

Buy some offal

Definitely raw.
Far more flavour.
I always have to make sure Mrs p's fillet steak is well trimmed before I cook it smile

Do what you like, but at the end of the day you're not doing the dog any favours, it far too rich for them and likely give them the runs.

Have you never seen 'All creatures great and small' Trickie Woo being a prime example.

A raw, beef shin bone complete with the marrow, will do just fine.

I do love this sort of sentiment but he's a dog and below you in the pecking order so I'd much rather have the steak myself and get him to watch on his birthday lol.

No need for a steak... A raw pork trotter is what you want. Can take them quite a while depending on size, good for their teeth, lots of meat and bones to crunch.

Go to the butcher, supermarket portions are tiny in comparison. I can get four good sized ribeye steaks from Bennett’s for only £12.

Lidl do a four pack of rump for £10.99, and they’re tiny - waste of money. By all means, feel free to buy an individual (aged) piece of meat.

Ours loves any offcuts, I tend to spoil him now and again.
