My parents have just got a working cocker spaniel puppy. Quotes for insurance are wide ranging in price to say the least.

Can anyone on here give me some recommendations please?

Pet Plan are not the cheapest, but they have been reliable in my experience.

Always go for 'lifetime' cover.

Petplan

Lifetime cover

My little monster has cost me in the last two years approximately £1100 with two separate claims. Both paid within 3 working days.

Asda cost me under £30 pm for £6k pa cover. In the first 6 months we used £3k without any quibbling and we may need to use the rest shortly. Money very well spent and a huge relief.

Napo.

Just changed to these this year, comparable cover and a more reasonable premium than the renewal from previous insurer.

Only ever had to make one claim, and that was for 7k with pet plan a few years back, and that was hassle free.

Like any insurance, you only know the good from the bad if you have to claim.

Direct line have been superb for our 2 labs

Our vets claim direct from the insurer so no upfront payments needed.

Make sure they get lifetime cover.

For example our 13 year old is on an ever increasing number of arthritis medication totalling £000s per month and it’s only ever cost us the first excess payment on top of the policy

I've got no direct experience but l'm a volunteer at an animal rescue which recommends Agria pet insurance. Whoever you go with, please make sure you get lifetime cover.
