I think one is a Tufted Duck but I`m not sure what type of Heron it is? surely normal Grey Herons have a long thin neck

Its a grey heron, they tuck their necks in when resting, roosting or flying. They only crane their neck when alert or fishing. Its the same with all heron species such as egrets or bitterns.

It's a heron with its head tucked down.
