I was presented with a murder mystery the other morning while out with the dogs.

A dead fox, in good healthy (apart from being dead) condition, by the lakeside with a gooses leg next to it.

Can the fox have attacked the goose who killed it but not before the fox had its leg off?

I think it could. They have powerful bites so could have hurt a fox.
Lots of foxes are relativley small, and some geese dwarf them.

No. The goose was already dead and the fox was scavenging before having a heart attack or whatever.

A goose minus a leg isn't going to do much...

But otherwise, yeah a goose could give a fox a fight.

What if a very angry stoat murdered a goose, and was forced to beat to death a fox with a goose leg as it tried to scavenge?

I reckon multiple foxes, one got away with the rest of the goose, the other one didn't get away at all.

Geese are evil buggers (and used as 'watchdogs' by the Romans... watchgeese doesn't quite sound tight silly )

Surely a goose ain’t all that. A fox is basically a mini ginger wolf. Got to be able to take a goose ffs.

I got attacked by a goose. Pecked me on the stomach, drew blood too. I composed myself and swung a clean right hook & connected well, just on the cheek… the goose decided against attacking me further.

We bid our goodbyes, left it at that, and to the best of my knowledge we haven’t crossed paths again, though I can’t say that for certain, as most geese look fairly similar to me.

If you see a goose swimming round in circles, that's the one to ask...
