While we go on holiday (for example). It will be either a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, or a Maltipoo.

6 months?

Thanks. smile

Setting aside the welfare/bonding side of things on which opinions will likely vary and no two dogs are the same, I guess the minimum age would be defined by vaccination schedule so around 12 weeks.

After that I think it would depend on the individual kennel so get in contact early. Good ones may already be booked for peak holidays next year

Would probably make sense to use on that does day care so you can do some trial runs

My Weim' went in kennels at 13weeks because i had a holiday already booked when i got him (poor planning, I know). Really good kennels who gave him loads of attention (spent a lot of the week in their office. Result, he bonded with them and loved going back. He got excited as soon as we turned Fownhope the toad and once there dragged them off around the field without so much as a look back to see where I was.

Defo go and see the kennel and understand how they manage the dogs and what they do during the day. We used a kennel earlier this year but ours are a little older (4 & 3).

The older Cockapoo was fine, but the younger springer really struggled and never really settled. Perhaps it was because he is so used to being at home and never got into a routine. I suspect he would be better next time.

Also depending on the kennels they might not mix dogs, and also they will only get limited walks / exercise time compared to what you will provide. The kennel we used had dogs that where kennelled for a couple of weeks, and one dog was with them for a month which seemed too long for me.
